Step 1 - choose a domain name
A domain name must be unique. Check below whether the name you wish to use is still available.
As you can see, besides .be, you can also register domain names ending in .vlaanderen and .brussels. Find out which one suits you best.
Please note that domain names must meet a number of technical requirements.
Step 2 - choose a registrar
Have you chosen a domain name that is still available? Then search a registrar or hosting partner to register your domain name. Consult the list of registrars for .be, .vlaanderen and .brussels domain names.
Step 3 - register your domain name
Provide your contact details to your registrar or hosting partner to register your domain name. Make sure all the details are entered correctly: your own name or the name of your organisation. A valid e-mail address is extremely important so that we can contact you concerning your domain name!
-
Choose an e-mail address that is not linked to the domain name you wish to register. If there is a problem with your domain name, the e-mail address may no longer work either.
Opt for an e-mail address that you check regularly, or set an automatic forwarding to an e-mail address that you do check regularly.
Opt for your own e-mail address, not the e-mail address of your registrar.
Be careful with ‘Out of office’ messages. Make sure that they do not contain any personal data.
-
DNS Belgium only sends you an e-mail with relevant information on your domain name or when someone wants to contact you to report a problem or the buy the domain name.
To protect the registrants, DNS Belgium has set day and week limits for the number of e-mails that a registrant can receive via our website.
You can unsubscribe at all times for all e-mails except for e-mails about our General Terms and Conditions and e-mails about the transfer code. To unsubscribe, please contact support.
By registering your domain name you accept our terms and conditions. The registrar will submit them to you. If he doesn't, you can consult them here for .be and here for .vlaanderen and .brussels.
Step 4 - DNS Belgium registers and activates your domain name automatically
Your registrar provides us the details for your domain name. We register the domain name automatically for one year. The registrar receives a confirmation of the registration.
Newly registered domain names are activated within 30 minutes.
Please note
Some domain names are not activated within 30 minutes. We check the details of all domain name holders before we activate a domain name. Are the details incorrect or incomplete? Then we do not activate the domain name. We contact the registrant to prove his identity. We do this to avoid someone registering a domain name anonymously or with false data to use it with bad intentions ( phishing , spam etc.).
